New England Tactical Sports Medicine provides evaluation, education, and rehabilitation services to professional EMTs, Firefighters, Law Enforcement Officers, and Military personnel.
I am the child of a paid
professional Firefighter, and I have grown up seeing the physical demands and requirements of the Firefighting profession. Dually
licensed as a Physical Therapist and a Certified Athletic Trainer, this blog serves as a resource for Tactical Athletes' health and wellness. Recently, the American Physical Therapy
Association and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association have recognized
Firefighters, EMTs, Police Officers, and Military Personnel, as being Tactical
Athletes. As such, their physical
fitness and training level directly impact their ability to safely and
effectively perform daily job requirements. Currently, Fire Departments around the country
are working with Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers to assist their
members with injury prevention programs and establish rehabilitation protocols
for injured Tactical Athletes. This
collaboration allows healthcare professionals to assist members with their
therapeutic care and physical performance.
Working with Physical Therapists and Certified Athletic Trainers provides
Firefighters with quicker access to evaluation and treatment by qualified individuals.
With my knowledge about Firefighting, and with my education in Sports Medicine, I am interested in working with Tactical Athletes to assist in supporting their health and wellness. It is my hope to assist Tactical Athletes by providing education on injury
prevention and acute management of various injuries/illnesses. Through this blog, it is my hope that Tactical Athletes’ health and physical performance
improve, and they are better able to perform their duties.
